Now, if I were going to do another western bound road trip, I’d want to start with the Pacific Coast Highway. Now I say another trip, because I have done one such trip along the collection of roads that make up those incredibly scenic roadway. A few years ago, I was at a conference in Los Angeles California for business. I got there a few days early, and my colleague and I decided to take a rental car and drive down the cost. We rented a convertible, and drove all the way down to San Diego and back in one day. We made a few stops at a couple of marinas, beaches, and reclusive little beach towns. It was a pretty cool trip. Actually, just renting the convertible, and driving around California was cool to start with. There’s nothing like driving under palm trees, with the top down, and your sunglasses on to make anyone feel live a movie star.

We saw plenty of boats, lots of beaches, and some really nice and expensive beach homes. I still have a dream to go back there one day, and own one of those homes. So, as you can see, it was a lot of fun doing the southern leg of the Pacific Coast Highway. There is still a whole lot of it for me to travel north of Los Angeles. I did do some time in San Francisco a few years later, but driving the coast was not on the agenda. I’m hoping to get the chance to visit there again, and rack up a few more miles. The scenery and coast line along the northern route is quite a bit different from the southern route. All in good time.
